Services

MDA's qualified physicians provide anesthesia at multiple facilities (see locations) as well as in a variety of settings such as endoscopy suites, MRI, cardiac catheterization lab, lithotripsy, invasive radiology, etc.

MDA physicians are skilled in all anesthesia subspecialties including:

  • Pediatric Anesthesia
  • Cardiothoracic Anesthesia
  • Obstetrical Anesthesia
  • Neurological Anesthesia
  • Acute Pain Management
  • Chronic Pain Management

A long acting of continuous anesthetic can be administered to decrease the pain post operatively. The anesthetic technique, distribution of block, and the procedure that are most frequently administered are as follows:

Interscalene Block: Local anesthetic is placed in the neck area. Duration of block is between 14-20 hours. Used for shoulder procedures such as rotator cuff, bankart repair, etc.

Femoral Nerve Block: Local anesthetic is placed in the groin area, next to the femoral artery. Duration of the block is between 14-20 hours. Used for knee procedures such as a total joint and ACL repair.

Epidural Nerve Block: A catheter is placed in the epidural space so a continuous anesthetic can be administered for 1-5 days. This can sometimes be used as the anesthetic technique. Used for procedures from the chest to the ankle.

Spinal Anesthetic: A long acting narcotic can be placed at the same time a spinal is administered for the anesthetic if desired. Duration of pain relief is between 18-24 hours. Used for procedures from the upper abdomen to the ankle.
